Gene CEll Field Trip - MelaKa

The past weekend had been quite an enjoyable one. EVenthough i am reluctant to go initially, but well, as usual it turns out alright. IT's always the evil side of me that causes me to have that kinda negative perception towards this kinda activities. Like how i always hate going camps, hate going for trips etc. But it always turns out well in the end. So yea.

Well, since it's a 'malaysia trip' to melaka like all the treks that i had taken on before in my SMU days, i decided to make 'chocolate cornflakes' for the class to share on the bus etc. So yea, for those ppl who enjoyed it and wants to know the recipe, try to look at the pic below and make out where i get the chocolate, cos i don't know where to get it as well! This field trip is part of my course - Gene Cell etc etc. SO the MAIN Objective of going for the trip is to visit a fruit farm. WEll, the visit could have been more enjoyable if the sun is not so scorching and if there are no mosquitos. But well, the visit was quite interesting as well. I saw a number of things that i had nv seen before. Like the Dragon fruit plant! HAha.. It is totally different from what i had expected. Look at the pic below, doesn't it look like a catus?
Nice rite? Haha, the 'flower' is really beautiful right? REally interesting huh? Haha, Bid for GEne Cell next term !!

Anyway next, we learnt about Marcotting (I'm not so sure about the spelling though, but it sounds like this), grafting. This is like 'cloning of the plants', just in case there are ppl out there who had forgotten about their low secondary science. The most interesting thing about marcotting is that they apply hormones to the affected area so as to promote growth of roots! CAN u believe it?? EVen the plants get hormones! hahaha... In case any of the guys out there are balding, u might wanna try out the hormones (pic below), u mihgt get ome 'roots' growing..! LolxTHe next interesting plant that we were introduced to was the 'TONG KAT ALI"!! Interesting huh? And u know what? THe plant is really strong! COs the leaves will still be in shape, unharm even after we try crushing it with our hands. SO i guess that's why it's strong.. haha. so guys who have erectile problems, what are u waiting for? Got look for it in the forest now, crush all the leaves that u can get ur hand on and see if it's the Tong KAT Ali! haha. After all the sightseeing, we had a rather unsatisfying lunch before we move on to the hotel. THe hotel is called Renaissance hotel or something like that. The hotel doesn't look really nice from the outside, but well, appearance is often deceptive. Same here. The hotel actually look quite nice etc. The rooms as well. Although it's not that big, but it's good enough. Ha. I even went to the swimming pool for a few laps. Ha. A few irritating kids there though. Pissed. WEll, i enjoyed the bathtub in my room as well. Lolx. My roommate thought i had drowned in the toilet cos i spent more than an hour submerging in the tub. The night, Dinner was really fun. It started out rather boring, cos i don't really know the ppl that i am sharing the table with other than my proj mates and also, there are a number of 'talks' by the class rep and the prof etc, so those are rather dry. WEll, the night was rather fun in the end, cos there was a KTV session. Hahaha. so fun. Everyone was singing! haha
The next day is more or less R and R. SEe a few things like the red house or something etc etc. These are my group mates! ahaha. nice huh? haha. They are all really funny guys. One Mugger, One Malay and one Vietnamese. hahaha.Lastly, u wanna know how tough it is to be a student in SMU? Just take a look at the picture below. SEE the ppl who are reading notes etc even while we are on a field trip? That's how mugger the ppl are these days. So how many i supposed to keep up? lolx
Nick
